My son had his wedding at such a fabulous place.
I have been to many weddings, resorts and retreats and this was the most beautiful and most serene place that I have ever been to.
It is so well worth going to, and a perfect place to hold a wedding at.
It is romantic, picturesque and spacious.
Everyone fell in love with it.
The setting is suitable for gatherings, parties, retreats, reunions, weddings, workshops, receptions, and all kinds of music and social events. There is plenty of parking.

A large barn (unheated) is available for indoor activities such as active game playing, dancing, dramatic performances, presentations to groups, yoga, tai chi, or whatever activity requires a large open space. The barn, like the lodge, has large decks for enjoying the woodland landscape.

There are ponds on the property and trails for walking through the 150 acres of fields and forests. Guests particularly enjoy the photographic opportunities and nature study. Outdoor activities are available including campfires and games such as croquet and volleyball.

Wedding Shower

I have to put on a wedding shower for my son and have decided to do a co-ed shower.
We have decided that we want a cupcake table, candy table and chocolate fountain table and a pastry table.
We have not decided yet weather to have a formal sit down dinner or a informal buffet.
A couple of ideas we have had are to get some decorated Chinese take out containers for
the candy and pastry tables for after the shower for people pack to take home as a extra favor.
I already started to pull items in for give a way gifts and game prizes for the affair. We have brought in the olive trays, ice cream cup sets and glass etched coasters.
When I do baby showers and wedding showers I don't like to do the traditional favors for favors.
I like to use the theme favors for table decorations and like to give favors that will be something people can use every day. I think our favors for the shower will be coffee set favors with the espresso maker and the coffee cup and saucer sets.
It is a little non traditional but I think would work better as people would actually use them.
Over the next several weeks we will be working on the shower and updating on the blog.
The cupcake bar I think is going to be extremely fun being an ex baker and my daughter being a baker that went to Paul Smiths culinary college for pastry arts.
How ever the search as begun for unique cupcakes and not the normal every day cupcakes that we are used to baking.
My daughters and I are actually very excited about doing this as this is for my oldest child, and we thing it will be a fun and rewarding time.
Also tomorrow my mom and I are putting on a baby shower for my cousin (favorite) and I will take photos and post the how to fpr, games, recipes, favors, etcetera.
ok now I have to go search for some cupcake and pastry recipes and as we bake each batch to try, I will post here the photos, recipes and descriptions of good, bad or what not here, so keep and eye out for the new post.

Looking for Transportation

So I will not get on a plane and my husband does not want to drive.
I don't really want to drive either- takes way to long and then your to tired to enjoy your self.
So we decided on taking the train.
Now My in laws who are on a long vacation cruise (must be nice) said they only paid $99.00 for a ticket from New York to the bottom of Florida on a train. They told my husband before they left and we have no contact with them while they are gone.
I have searched every where and can not find how to get a train ticket for that much.
Today I am writing articles for my website so when I need to take brakes I will continue searching but have no idea where to start now. I think I have exhausted all the avenues I could think of.
I also have to start looking for discount tickets to Disney World and Bush Gardens.
Back to work and searching I go

Walt Disney World Trip is on

After much thought we have decided to make a go of it.
The swine flu does not seem to be any more dangerous in the u.s than the regular flu and
I am a germ a phobic, so I think we are covered.
Just double up the vitamins.
Walt Disney world and Mickey Mouse here we come.
Now where to stay and how to plan the trip
I figure 10 days total.
1 day down by train ( I am to afraid to fly)
and 1 day back by train.
One day at my Uncles and One day at the beach.
That leaves 6 days in Disney World.
My oldest Kids are staying home they have to work.
I wish I had taken them when they were younger, at least before college and jobs.
So now I have to decide how to work out the 6 days and what hotel to stay in.
I am thinking 3 days in the grand Floridian and 3 days in Animal Kingdom lodge.
That should make everyone happy.
I am only doing this trip once so it mine as well be the Deluxe accomodations. As I stated I am a germ a phobe so i have to bring my own bedding. Normally I stay in my fifth wheel and camp.
That way I don't have any worries-lol
My brother says I don't have to worry. Not only is Walt Disney World the happiest place on Earth it is also the Cleanest place on Earth.
Well off I go for now. I have orders to package and get ready for shipping.
Also have to make Dinner.

Too Many Books

Too Many Books!
One sentence that drives me mad is when some one comes to my book stall and says "they have too many books". I don't mind if they don't want to buy books. I am a big believer in libraries and visit them often with my two little one (yes I sell books that we absolutely love, but I will not deprive them of a even broader spectrum of books to love). I do mind when they say "they have too many books as their children don't read the ones they have."Shouldn't they ask themselves why their children don't read the books they have. Thinking of alot of my friends houses, many of their books are no longer age appropriate for their children. These books should be removed (stored, sold, given away, what ever they want to do with them). This probably gets rid of the majority of the books. Next they should take a critical look at the books they have left. Are they on a topic the child actually enjoys?For example, if a child likes princesses, feed their imagination with good old fashioned princess stories. Steer clear of the new modern day commercialism. Every child, every age has a passion, whether its animals, dinosaurs , princesses, pirates, insects, cars, planes, I could go on. What ever subject it is, if they like the subject they will be interested in reading and looking at pictures about that subject.Research has actually shown that children improve their reading ability by reading alot. Independent reading increases both vocabulary and reading fluency.Children who choose their own books usually reads more books and spends more time reading. If they start reading young (or have books read to them from an early age) they are more motivated to continue reading as they advance though the grade levels.So can a child have too many books? The answer is they can have too many wrong books but if if they only have books that are appropriate for them they can never have too many books! So the next time you are walking pass a book stall with your child, have them browse and see what interests them or talk to your child find out what type of book they would like to own. The better books they will want to read again and again,

What to do About Disney Vacation

I am starting to make all the plans and getting ready to make reservations, but don't know what to do about this new flu.
I want my kids to see Disney but at what cost?
It took me 25 years to make the decision to finally go.
I don't want to live in a glass bubble and we are all so excited about this.
I am trying to decide to just go for it and go in August or push the date to November and buy some time for the flu to clear out.
Usually when I make a decision to do something and it is big, I just do it and stick it out.
But this time I am nervous about this whole thing.
I figure I only have about a week or two at the longest to decide on which date.
I held out and waited until yesterday to book a site for memorial day weekend to go mining and now there is none left here and they are all booked up.
I think this is going to be a lousy summer. I hate being afraid of something like this.
The kids are now nervous and have no problem with postponing the trip-
Maybe it would be better to wait until November to give us time to plan it all out.
It is during my busy season with the business and I will be back to driving school bus.
But it should be safer and a better trip because of having time to plan everything out.
The New Disney cd still hasn't come in anyway. And maybe planning that far in advance I will get a discount on traveling.
So off I go to start searching airlines and train tickets and prices.

The Walt Disney World Quest continued

Now I started my search for Disney world information a couple of days ago and I know have a whirl wind of information from a ton of sources. To much to try and figure out.
Friends and Family were probably the worst.
I have a friend who went down and stayed in one of the value priced hotels but her sister in-law stayed in a upscale hotel on Disney premises and my friend loved her stay but said her sister had cockroaches in her hotel room.
I hate cockroaches and I wanted to stay in one of the nicest hotels at Walt Disney world being that this is my first and only time down there.
My brother says no way are there any cockroaches in all of Disney World.
They keep it clean and sprayed so there is no way- it is not only the greatest place on earth but the cleanest. So I am going to have to go with what he says, He goes down to Disney world every year.
I took a break yesterday from searching out Walt Disney World information and bought a Beautiful bathroom vanity. (I got a great Deal on it) I am saving up for the trip and I needed a new bathroom faucet and the vanity was only about $20.00 more than the faucet.LOL
Yesterday afternoon we decide to watch the old Disney Video again for what we might of missed.
shortly after I had to run out to a 2 big name stores to pick up a couple of odds and ends.
While at the first store a thought hits me. I ask my daughter "do you want to wear a princess dress to Disney" As I sell the really nice ones that are top quality my daughter says yes maybe when I meet the princess's - OK which one do you want- well maybe one of the real Disney ones.
OK I don't have those but we are at a store I think does. We search around and find them.
I couldn't believe it- my daughter was like nooooooooooooooooooooo way.
They are only around $25.00 but the quality was so not there. Ok we will go to the large toy store it is in the parking lot across from us - same thing there.
So I guess it will be one that mommy sells-lol
Now today I am back to searching some more and my sister in-law sent me some great links about tickets to Disney and other information- here they are

Going to Disney World !!!

I am pretty excited.
We are going to Disney world later this year.
It was really something i kinda wanted to do.
But this year after being hounded repeatedly I to have joined in,
LETS GO TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!
I made the decision 2 days ago and notified my family.
Now for planning.
We have never been to Florida. The farthest we have ever been is Virgina.
We have circled the northeast a lot so this will be a challenge.
We are also regular campers so staying in a hotel will be unique to say the least.
The reason I bought the fifth wheel was so we would not have to stay in hotel rooms but I hear Disney rooms are very nice and clean so we will forgo it.
I have no idea of where to start so the we started to surf the Disney site last night to give us some kind of idea. Tonight we will watch the CD i ordered 2 years ago-lol
(it was to quite down the family)
Now onto surfing the net to see what else I can find on Florida trips and Walt Disney world.
